Choosing my label

The biggest decision an artist has to make, it can lead their career into the toilet or it could potentially make them a huge global star. 

This video concludes that as an artist I would want to be signed with Atlantic Records, this is due to the many opportunities of collaborations with similar artists, in the way the Marina and the Diamonds did with Charli XCX. As this has already be done I can be safe in assuming that if my artist were signed to Atlantic Records this too would happen for her. 
Also, the label has 525k followers on twitter, therefore able to boost my products, concerts and much more to half a million people for free. It also has 114k followers on instagram which is very handy for the same reason, however they would be able to show my album cover and this will reach that amount of people. On facebook they have 362,542 followers. 
Atlantic records are also a very established record label they have dealt with artists such as Led Zepplin in the past, therefore I would happily put my trust into them to guide my career further. 

Raw Footage

These shots were taken from various filming days. I am using them as an example of my direction skills. This shot was taken, I wanted the Queen of Hearts to seem frightening and unsettling. I am instructing her to smile. I am not so keen with the mouth opening however I may work with this in my video.In total I have over 2 hours of footage that I will be able to use for my video, although some may seem very scruffy and useless, I intent to not repeat clips in my video once, and to constantly keep the audience engaged with different clips. Therefore, because I have filmed such a large excess amount I have put together a video to show a select few of the shots that I have with no editing or changes to it whatsoever (P.S. There may contain explicit language in the video - Disclaimer). 

The Camera

Although my college's media department have cameras to hire out, I chose to use my own as I didn't like the idea of having to wait until one became free. Also it makes everyone else hiring them out a lot more relaxed. 
The camera I am using is the Canon Powershot SX220 HS

Thursday it is predicted to snow so I am hoping to get a few shots in the snow hopefully. I need to plan it well if I am able to capture this. 

4/2/16 

I plan to film on this day outside so weather is vastly important, however due to the severe wind on the last attempt, I must make sure the wind is less strong and I will be able to record my actress this time. 

05/02/16

I plan to film on this day at Welton Waters my Rabbit scenes. However there looks like rain at around 7pm until 12am. So I may either change the day of filming, or I could adapt and incorporate rain into my video. However this will effect health and safety, especially in a muddy area where slipping issues may occur. 

Teddy Bear Ideas

Taking inspiration from Miley Cyrus I have started using teddy bears throughout my video. Melanie Martinez also uses these bears in order to use them for a dark adult theme. 

The teddy is a build a bear teddy and is a pastel pink with white love hearts on it. (its cute). I thought that the idea of using a teddy with hearts on also ties in with the queen of hearts as well. Here is some footage of teddy bears that I filmed.

Diluting pupil effect

In order to achieve this, I used my sisters eye. I didn't think makeup was required to do this as it looks better bare and naked. 

I was able to do this by using a bright torch. Firstly, I made my sister shut her eyes for a considerable amount of time. I then told her to open her eyes and at this point I turned on the torch and faced it just above her eye (This is in my health and safety grid). 

It gives the impression of drug use when I reverse the shot in final cut pro, which is what I was hoping for from the start. 

Although, because it is a very quick movement in the eye, It will be fairly difficult to make sure the audience properly see it. I tested it with my mother first, this was because she was the first person I saw when I learnt how to do it. And obviously, I was buzzing to try it out.

Although I was only able to complete a small amount of video. I feel that the parts I have done are effective and exactly how I wanted them to be. I spent 2 hours layering my video and the television screen and adjusting it so that the videos fit together. I did this by distorting the video of my main singer and placing each corner of the video into the screen.  I still need to adjust this in order to make sure it looks professional and fluid. 

The process involved using speed up and slow down mechanisms. On the first shot is a tracking and tilting shot which I slowed down in order to create a feeling of eeriness. 
I also used the 'Destorted Tv' which is a convention of the genre and similar to my textual analysis of Primadonna Girl by Marina and the Diamonds.
